"Fattoria La Loggia" a Secret Gem in Tuscany

The "Fattoria La Loggia" is one of the most well kept secret of the Chianti's hills. With unparalleled  beauty of its traditional rustic architecture is a truly gem for the travelers who would experience the authentic atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside.

It rises from the vineyards  upon a hill with an amazing view of the Chianti and its worldwide famous historic beautiful small villages. Situated in Montefiridolfi, near S.Casciano Val di Pesa, Mercatale and Greve in Chianti, it's only few miles from the city of Florence (Firenze).

The "Fattoria La Loggia" belongs to the "Baruffaldi" Earl, although it is run by the local manager Ivana Natali and her family who handled for decades the success of this charming luxury B&B. Every year she hosts repeaters from everywhere due to the happiness of the guests during the previous staying. The accommodations are rustic country flats or rooms, each one with its own personality and style.

Most of these apartments have fireplaces refined with traditional wood and stone (pietra serena) style. Plus the unicity of this place is the outstanding collection of modern art, that can be seen all across the property and even in the outdoors.

Fattoria La Loggia is ideal for families, group of friends and off course romantic couples. They have different accommodations for any kind of traveler. The staying includes a nice breakfast served in the outside court facing the vineyards valley, or inside during the cold season. Price varies depending on the season and number of people, including the style of the room. Each one of these has a different name and so it's easy to remember it. A modern styled swimming pool is a nice spot to relax among the cypresses.

In the farm you can taste the fabulous local wines, organize special private events, biking, walking or simply visit the many artistic places around there or just walk in 10 minutes to a near Etruscan grave.

A walk through the Chianti grapes variety is something that you'll never forget, especially if you ends the afternoon with a typical "merenda" a local habit to drink a red glass of wine eating "pane e prosciutto" o "pane e salame" (tuscan bread with raw cured prosciutto or bread with tuscan pepperoni) also bread and fresh tomatoes with pecorino cheese. The red Chianti wine used to be kept in "fiaschi" the traditional bottle invented in the city of Livorno.

The area is excellent to start a tour around the vineyards and the historic castles. A great base to visit Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, just to mention a fews. One of the nice features of La Loggia is that you can cook outside your BBQ Tuscan style just buying the excellent meat that you can find in the near village of "Panzano in Chianti". This is the home of the most famous butcher in the world "Dario Cecchini". Therefore you can find the best cuts around here, including a nice "welcome taste" (accoglienza) of his unique products. He has also two restaurants next to the butcher shop. His performances are legendary among the public worldwide.

Xmas at Pinewood Estate in Bok Tower Gardens Florida

E' sulla collina più' alta della Florida, la "Bok Tower", punto di osservazione privilegiato, occupa una posizione centrale sia nel parco circostante che nella geografia dello stato. I "Bok Tower Gardens" sono i bellissimi giardini mediterraneo-tropicali che la circondano e includono la casa, in stile spagnolo e anche un po' italiano, chiamata "Pinewood Estate", appartenuta al filantropo di origine olandese Edward Bok. Durante l' anno si tengono concerti musicali di notevole livello. Proprio in questi giorni, abbiamo assistito al concerto natalizio della "Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra", tenutosi il 7 Dicembre 2013, nel grande parco sotto la torre. Migliaia di persone hanno partecipato dal tramonto alla notte stellata, immersi nel clima mite e gradevolissimo della Florida centrale, mentre nel resto degli USA si gelava. Il concerto si e' alternato alle melodie emesse dalle campane in cima alla "Bok Tower", orchestrate da un complesso congegno musicale in grado di riprodurre qualunque spartito musicale. Il luogo e' stato ed e' tuttora meta di autorevoli esponenti del panorama musicale internazionale, tra i compositori del passato anche il maestro Arturo Toscanini.

Abbiamo percorso a piedi i sentieri del parco insieme a Brian Ososky, director of marketing e p.r. della fondazione. Con piacevole sorpresa abbiamo pranzato al "Blue Palmetto Cafe" che grazie al nuovo chef "Cory Reynolds" propone sandwiches spettacolari a base di ingredienti freschissimi selezionati dalle vicine fattorie e coltivazioni. I suoi sandwiches sono vere creazioni gourmet, dove la semplicità e la qualità sono le uniche protagoniste della sua creatività di successo. Subito dopo Brian ci ha dedicato un VIP tour all' interno di "Pinewood Estate" decorata per l' occasione in stile natalizio da noti stilisti di interiors. Numerosi i visitatori giunti da ogni parte per assistere all' evento tradizionale annuale.

"Cape Cod:The Captain's House Inn at Chatham, Massachussetts"

Continua il nostro viaggio nel New England e anche se l'Autunno volge ormai al termine, pubblichiamo questo paradiso per velisti, navigatori e amanti del "fall" autunnale. Abbiamo selezionato una delle piu' belle e suggestive località' di "Cape Cod". "Chatham" in Massachussetts, e' il posto ideale per lunghe passeggiate a contatto con l' oceano.

Se cercate il tipico life style marinaro del New England, qui lo troverete. "Chatham" e' certamente una delle cittadine più tipiche di questo lembo sottile di terra, a forma di uncino, che si spinge ad est nell' Atlantico. Per vivere a pieno l' esperienza abbiamo recensito per voi un Bed & Breakfast del 1839, molto in tema con l' ambiente circostante e perfetto per gli appassionati del mare.

Stiamo parlando del "Captain's House Inn" at Chatham in Massachussetts. Venimmo qui nel 2004 per uno dei nostri rating & reviews  e il punteggio assegnato fu di 17/20. Oggi possiamo affermare che la struttura, dopo il cambio di proprietà, e' cresciuta ulteriormente e ha ottenuto da "Travelscore Magazine" il punteggio di 20/20 per il migliore High Tea (detto anche "Cream Tea"), Breakfast e Accommodations.

Questo caratteristico Inn, da l' impressione di trovarsi in Inghilterra perche il personale e' in gran parte "British", ma la proprietà e' americana. E' normale quindi che l' "English Afteroon Tea" sia curato nei minimi dettagli ogni pomeriggio, in un ora compresa tra le 3:00 e le 5:00 p.m. Poi al mattino servono una "gourmet breakfast" che non si dimentica.

L' assortimento include le tipiche "scones" inglesi, con panna montata e marmellata. Inoltre vari tipi di torte, muffins e sandwiches. Un impeccabile servizio al tavolo completa la già suggestiva atmosfera "cottage" style. Dopo vi potete rilassare sorseggiando "Sherry" in biblioteca.

E' certamente un posto dove trascorrere il tempo pigramente, dopo lunghe passeggiate sul mare o per la main street di Chatham. Numerosi libri, giochi da tavolo e films sono a disposizione degli ospiti.

Non siamo certo gli unici ad aver sottolineato il livello della struttura ed il servizio offerto. Lo denotano chiaramente i numerosi riconoscimenti ottenuti negli ultimi anni.

Dopo la bella esperienza dell' High Tea, vi consigliamo di pernottare nella "Lydia Harding Suite", una lussuosa mansarda al primo piano di uno dei vari edifici presenti nel complesso.

Dotata di un caratteristico balcone in legno, adiacente alla master bedroom, la suite ha anche un bagno con ogni tipo di amenities e una spa tub per due persone. Inoltre una sala di lettura o per la visione privata di films. Diversi camini sono presenti nelle stanze principali. La suite e' adatta anche per una famiglia di due adulti con due bambini.

A pochi passi dal "Captain's House Inn" potete fare numerose attività tra cui escursioni sulla baia di Chatham lungo il litorale o recarvi al piccolo porto di pescatori, dove ogni giorno troverete pesce fresco. In citta' ci sono diversi  ristoranti dove gustare fried oysters, lobster bisque, fried cod oppure clam chowder. Vi consigliamo quelli dove vanno i locali. Chiedete al vostro Innkeeper e vi dara' il giusto consiglio. Non dimenticatevi di abbinare al cibo una fantastica birra locale, prodotta dal birrificio di Cape Cod. Per la visita la stagione più  suggestiva e' l' Autunno, per via dei colori del "fall", ma anche il resto dell' anno e' sempre molto bello.
