"Fattoria La Loggia" a Secret Gem in Tuscany

The "Fattoria La Loggia" is one of the most well kept secret of the Chianti's hills. With unparalleled  beauty of its traditional rustic architecture is a truly gem for the travelers who would experience the authentic atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside.

It rises from the vineyards  upon a hill with an amazing view of the Chianti and its worldwide famous historic beautiful small villages. Situated in Montefiridolfi, near S.Casciano Val di Pesa, Mercatale and Greve in Chianti, it's only few miles from the city of Florence (Firenze).

The "Fattoria La Loggia" belongs to the "Baruffaldi" Earl, although it is run by the local manager Ivana Natali and her family who handled for decades the success of this charming luxury B&B. Every year she hosts repeaters from everywhere due to the happiness of the guests during the previous staying. The accommodations are rustic country flats or rooms, each one with its own personality and style.


Most of these apartments have fireplaces refined with traditional wood and stone (pietra serena) style. Plus the unicity of this place is the outstanding collection of modern art, that can be seen all across the property and even in the outdoors.


Fattoria La Loggia is ideal for families, group of friends and off course romantic couples. They have different accommodations for any kind of traveler. The staying includes a nice breakfast served in the outside court facing the vineyards valley, or inside during the cold season. Price varies depending on the season and number of people, including the style of the room. Each one of these has a different name and so it's easy to remember it. A modern styled swimming pool is a nice spot to relax among the cypresses.


In the farm you can taste the fabulous local wines, organize special private events, biking, walking or simply visit the many artistic places around there or just walk in 10 minutes to a near Etruscan grave.

A walk through the Chianti grapes variety is something that you'll never forget, especially if you ends the afternoon with a typical "merenda" a local habit to drink a red glass of wine eating "pane e prosciutto" o "pane e salame" (tuscan bread with raw cured prosciutto or bread with tuscan pepperoni) also bread and fresh tomatoes with pecorino cheese. The red Chianti wine used to be kept in "fiaschi" the traditional bottle invented in the city of Livorno.

The area is excellent to start a tour around the vineyards and the historic castles. A great base to visit Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, just to mention a fews. All year round is good for plan a visit. It is recommended to spend at least a week-end, but a week would be much better if you want to use it as a settle point to travel around. One of the nice features of La Loggia is that you can cook outside your BBQ Tuscan style just buying the excellent meat that you can find in the near village of "Panzano in Chianti". This is the home of the most famous butcher in the world "Dario Cecchini". Therefore you can find the best cuts around here, including a nice "welcome taste" (accoglienza) of his unique products. He has also two restaurants next to the butcher shop. His performances are legendary among the public worldwide.
